Pirate Golf 3rd at WSC Netural, 8th in SoCal Preview

The VC golf team placed third in the Western State Conference No. 6 match and eighth in the Southern California Preview played simultaneously Monday at the Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura. Pirate Evan Colborn was the individual medalist with an incredible 5-under 67 on the par-72 course, besting the WSC field by three strokes and winning the SoCal Preview by a single stroke. Nicholas Burns tied for fifth in the WSC match and tied for 11th in the SoCal Preview for Ventura.

VC posted a team score of 385, which was behind Canyons' 363 and Glendale's 381 in the WSC competition. Bakersfield was fourth with a 388. The Cougars also won the SoCal Preview followed closely by Desert (365), Cypress (367), Saddleback (370), Riverside (371), and Mt. San Antonio (377).

Behind Colborn's 5-under total, Burns shot an even-par 72. Martin Alvarez came in with an 80 while Nicolai Cascione and Liam Kebely each posted an 83. Zack Garboski was the final Pirate with an 86.

Ventura played without season-leader Steen Zeman who missed the match due to injury.

The Pirates will next tee off on Monday March 28 at the WSC No. 9 match hosted by Hancock at the Santa Maria Country Club.
