Pirates Golf Team Outstanding at WSC Championships

The Ventura College golf team had an outstanding day Monday at the Western State Conference Championships, shooting a combined 377, 378-755 to finish two strokes behind conference champion Canyons to easily claim second place on the day and for the season. Joey Herrera posted a 74, 71-145 to place second in the 36-hole tournament, and was also named the WSC Co-Most Valuable Player for his efforts during the season. Brandon Resnick and Denis Kakimoto earned all-conference honors for VC.

Canyons won the event with a combined score of 753, followed closely by the Pirates at 755. Santa Barbara was third on the day with a team mark of 768 and Citrus was fourth at 785.  All four teams will advance to the CCCAA SoCal Regional Championships on Monday May 8 at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside.

Other VC scores in the championships included a third place tie for Resnick at 74, 73-147. Kakimoto shot 75, 76-151 and Connor Philpott posted a 76, 76-152. Kyle Dollison came in with a 78, 83-161 and Adam Franc scored 86, 82-168.
