VC Golf Second at WSC-Canyons Event

Joey Herrera shot a 1-over 73, good for third overall, as the Ventura College golf team came in second place at the Western State Conference event hosted by College of the Canyons at TPC Valencia Monday. The Pirates posted a team score of 379, six strokes behind the host Cougars, who carded a 373. Santa Barbara finished third on the day with a 391.

Connor Philpott and Kyle Dollison each turned in 76's on the day while Brandon Resnick and Denis Kakimoto each shot a 77. Kevin Leblanc rounded out the Pirate scorers with a 99.

Also on Monday, and simultaneous to the WSC event, the Pirates participated in the Canyons Invitational, which included four non-WSC member schools.  VC also came in second in that event, ahead of the SoCal's No. 1-ranked Orange Coast Pirates, who turned in a score of 386, seven strokes behind Ventura.
