Wilson and Cigar Earn All-WSC honors for Pirates

Pirate freshmen Jeremiah Wilson and Kam'Ron Cigar each earned first team All-Western State Conferene accolades for their performance during the 2024-25 basketball season. They were two of the Pirates top players this past season with Wilaon as the leading scorer averaging 15.1 points per game with 4.7 rebounds and Cigar netted 11.6 points and handed out 2.0 assists.

VC Men Fall in Season Finale

The Pirates' men's basketball team dropped its season finale 92-80 Friday against Oxnard at the Athletic Event Center. Jeremiah Wilson went for 26 points and five rebounds the lead VC while Bo Dolinsek netted 15 with a team-high seven boards. William Caceres and Kam'Ron Cigar each netted 12 points in the effiort and Isaiah Dudley handed out three assists.

Men's Basketball Falls in Santa Maria Against Hancock

The VC men's basketball team traveled to Allan Hancock College Wednesday, falling to the Bulldogs, 77-56. Kam'Ron Cigar scored 17 points with five rebounds while Isaiah Dudley netted 13 points in the setback. Bo Dolinsek recorded eight points with four boards and Kevin Hymes handed out four assists.

Men's Basketball Battles Cuesta in Loss

The VC men's basketball team battled, but ultimately dropped a 75-66 decision against Cuesta Saturday at the Athletic Event Center. Kevin Hymes came off the bench to score 16 points, including a 10-12 performance at the foul line, and Jeremiah Wilson netted 15 points with five assists. Kam'Ron Cigar recorded 11 points and eight rebounds in teh game and Bo Dolinsek had nine points and seven boards.

Pirates Claim Triumph in Another Close Game

Behind a 24-point performance by Kam'Ron Cigar, the Pirates' men's basketball team came out on top of another close game Monday, 71-65 over visiting Los Angeles Pierce. Jeremiah Wilson produced a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds and Bo Dolinsek netted 13 points in the triumph for VC. Cigar also handed out a team-high five assists and grabbed four steals.

Pirates Outlast Santa Barbara to Pick Up Victory

In a tight game throughout, the Pirates' men's basketball team took a lead midway through the second half and held on to outlast Santa Barbara 75-69 Saturday at the Athletic Event Center. Kam'Ron Cigar netted 14 points and handed out four assists while Jeremiah Wilson added 17 points. Kevin Hymes produced 14 points and dropped eight dimes with five rebounds and Bo Dolinsek recorded 10 points.

Men's Basketball Falls at Home vs. Moorpark

The VC men's basketball team fell at home against Moorpark College 94-74 Wednesday night. Jeremiah Wilson led four Pirates in double figures with 21 points and Bo Dolinsek scored 18 points with a team-high eight rebounds. Kam'Ron Cigar recorded 16 points and three assists and Kevin Hymes came off the bench to total 10 points with seven boards and three helpers.

The VC men's basketball team used a 16-4 run against LA Pierce midway through the second half to take control in the Pirates' 74-66 victory in Woodland Hills. Jeremiah Wilson scored 17 points with eight rebounds and Kevin Hymes came off the bench to net 19 points with four assists and three steals. Kam'Ron Cigar contributed 10 points and dropped five dimes in the triumph.

The VC men's basketball team fell behind early and could not find their way back Saturday in their 77-56 defeat against Allan hancock at the Athletic Event Center. The Pirates' men's basketball team traveled to San Luis Obispo Wednesday, falling to Cuesta 73-57 in a Western State Conference contest. Kam'Ron Cigar came off the bench to score 16 points to lead Ventura and Jeremiah Wilson totaled 10 points with a team-best seven rebounds. The Pirates' men's basketball team trailed 56-55 with two minutes remaining before outsocing the Vaqueros 6-1 down the stretch to capture the win, 61-57. Jeramiah Wilson scored 18 points, including a key 3-point play late, while Bo Dolensik netted 13 points with eight rebounds. The VC men's basketball team outscored host Los Angeles Valley 92 in overtime Wednesday to claim an 83-76 victory over the Monarchs. VC Comeback Falls Short against Bakersfield

The VC men's basketball team cut a nine-point deficit to one in the final five minutes of play Tuesday against Bakersfield, but the Renegades were able to hold off the Pirates in the 77-72 decision at the Athletic Event Center. Kam'Ron Cigar led Ventura with 21 points while Jeremiah Wilson added 15 with five rebounds and Isaiah Dudley scored 12 points with seven boards.

MBB Falls Despite Strong Offensive Effort

Despite shooting 49 percent from the floor, 50 percent from three and 77 percent from the free throw line, the Pirates' men's basketball team dropped a 103-84 decision to San Bernardino Valley on the final day of the Hypland Classic Saturday at Riverside. Jeremiah Wilson netted 23 points with six boards to lead the way while Kevin Hymes totaled 17 points in the effort. Bo Dolinsek had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists and Kam'Ron Cigar also reached double-figures with 14 for Ventura (6-7).

Men's Cagers Fall Short at Riverside

The VC men's basketball team returned to action after an extended Thanksgiving break, dropping an 88-73 decision at Riverside Wednesday on the first day of the Hypland Classic. Jeremiah Wilson led the way for Ventura (6-6) with 19 points and five rebounds while Isaiah Dudley and Kam'Ron Cigar added 14 and 13 points, respectively. K. Cigar also dished out a team-best three assists.

Pirates Go Wire-to-Wire Over Saddleback

Bo Dolinsek hit two free throws on the Pirates first possession of the game, and Jeremiah Wilson scored a putback on the second as the Pirates' men's basketball team went wire-to-wire in defeating Saddleback 75-65 Tuesday at the Athletic Event Center. Dolinsek tallied 22 points with 10 boards and Wilson added 19 points with six caroms. Elijah Brown chipped in 11 points off the bench for VC (5-4) and Kevin Hymes pulled in 10 rebounds and added four assists.

Playing its second game in less than 19 hours, the Pirates' men;s basketball team came up short against Cahbot , 71-68, in a game played in Pasadena. Bo Dolinsek filled the stat sheet woth 28 points and 14 rebounds for VC (4-4) and Kevin Hymes just missed a triple-double with 10 points, nine assists and nine boards. Kam'Ron Cigar chipped in nine points in the effort.

The Pirates' men's basketball team fell short at San Diego City Saturday, dropping an 80-75 decision against the Knights. Kam'Ron Cigar and Jeremiah Wilson each scored 23 points to lead the Pirates (4-3) and Isaiah Dudley collected 11 rebounds. Kevin Hymes contributed 17 points, six assists and three steals to the effort.

Pirates Can't Keep up With LA Southwest

The VC men's basketball team had one of those nights and could not keep up with visiting Los Angeles Southwest Wednesday. Despite 18 points each from Bo Dolinsek and Elijah Brown, the Pirates dropped a 100-78 decision to the Cougars. Jeremiah Wilson and Kam'Ron Cigar netted 17 and 15 points, respectively, in the setback.

Ventura Captures Irvine Valley Classic Title

Tournament MVP Bo Dolensik turned in another double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and All-Tournament selections Kam'Ron Cigar and Kevin Hymes tallied 18 and 10 points, respectively, as the VC men's basketball team captured the Irvin Valley Classic championship 73-68 over the hosts Friday evening. Jeremiah Wilson recorded a game-high 21 points in the victory over the Lasers.

The Pirates' men's basketball team used a consistent effort on Thursday to turn a small halftime deficit into a 64-55 victory over Cerritos at the Irvine Valley Classic. Bo Dolinsek produced his fourth double-double in as many games with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Kevin Hymes contributed 16 points, seven boards, three assists and four steals. Jeremiah Wilson netted 14 points with six rebounds.

MBB Claims Overtime Win, Honors Coach Mathews

The VC men's basketball team battled for an 84-79 win over Riverside City College Saturday in the finale of the We Play Hard Tip-Off Tournament. Bo Dolinsek and reserve Isaiah Dudley each netted 20 points to spark the Pirate victory over the Tigers, and their head coach Phil Mathews. After the game, Mathews, a Hall of Fame coach who created Ventura's We Play Hard dynasty from 1985-95, was honored with a banner in the Athletic Event Center on what was his final game in the venue before his retirement at the end of the current season.
