Ventura Falls in Heartbreaking Regional Final

Despite an outstanding team performance in which the Pirates' men's basketball left everything on the floor, Ventura dropped a heartbreaking 86-93 overtime decision at Citrus Saturday in the Southern California Regional Finals. VC's one-two punch of Marcus Watson and Adrian McIntyre recorded 30 and 29 points, respectively, to lead the way and Kai Johnson produced a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Tony Njia netted a dozen for Ventura (23-7) and Michael Noulowe had 10 points with seven boards.

Team Effort Produces "Sweet" Playoff Victory for Pirates

VC's Adrian McIntyre scored a team-high 18 points and six other Pirates netted between seven and 11 points each as the Ventura College men's basketball team advanced to the state "Sweet 16" with a 74-69 playoff victory over Santiago Canyon Saturday at the Athletic Event Center. Tony Njia came off the bench for 11 points and Marcus Watson recorded 10 points with six assists. Meanwhile Anthony Garza and Aaron Dawoodjee had nine points each while Daniel Crocker scored eight and Kai Johnson tallied seven with nine rebounds.

Men's Basketball Overmatches Santa Barbara

The Pirates' men's basketball team overmatched visiting Santa Barbara in their 85-55 victory Saturday at the Athletic Event Center. All 11 Pirates who played scored at least three points in the contest, led by Adrian McIntyre's 19. Kai Johnsopn came off the bench to score 16 with a team-best seven rebounds and Tony Njia scored 10 points. Landreau Tate and Marcus Watson each handed out three assists in the win for Ventura (21-6, 9-2).

Strong Second Half Propels Ventura Past Pierce

The VC men's basketball team used a strong second half to turn a one-point halftime deficit into a 14-point victory over Los Angeles Pierce Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. Anthony Garza had a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, Daniel Crocker totaled 19 points and Tony Njia came off the bench to score 18 to lead the Pirates to the 78-64 triumph. Garza also handed out five assists while Marcus Watson had three dimes with six steals and Michael Noulowe pulled in nine boards.

Pirates Return to Win Column at Moorpark

The Ventura College men's basketball team returned to the win column Saturday afternoon with a convincing 04-73 victory at Moorpark. Marcus Watson led the Pirates with 25 points and Adrian McIntyre topped out at 20 points with five assists. Anthony Garza scored 16 with nine rebounds and six dimes while Daniel Crocker posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 boards.VC (19-6, 7-2) now holds a 1/2 game lead over Hancock in the Western State Conference North standings.

Ventura Drops WSC North Contest

The Pirates' men's basketball team found themselves in a rare spot Wednesday, dropping their Western State Conference North Division contest to Moorpark 97-90 Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. Marcus Watson scored 24 points and Anthony Garza dropped 20 in the setback while Kai Johnson put up 15 points. Watson added seven rebounds and five assists to the effort and Garza pulled in six boards. Johnson and Michael Noulowe each grabbed five caroms.

Garza, Johnson Lead Pirates Past Cougars

Pirates Anthony Garza and Kai Johnson both flirted with triple doubles Saturday leading the Pirates' men's basketball team to an 85-73 victory over Cuesta at the Athletic Event Center. Garza scored 26 points with 11 rebounds and six assists while Johnson netted 20 points with 10 boards and seven dimes. Daniel Crocker came off the bench with 14 points for Ventura (14-4, 2-0), as they won their sixth consecutive game.

Pirate Cagers Win in Last Minute at Riverside

In a highly contested game between the mentor and the student, the student won out Friday in Riverside. VC head coach Joey Ramirez played for Riverside head coach and VC Hall of Famer Phil Mathews in Ventura, and Ramirez's Pirates captured the 75-74 victory at RCC with Marcus Watson's 3-point play with 20.3 seconds remaining in the game. Adrian McIntyre scored 30 points in the game and Michael Noulowe had a huge block on the Tiger's last-second shot to preserve the triumph.

The VC men's basketball team completed the Riverside Tournament with an 81-56 victory over Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday. Kai Johnson led the way with 23 points and six rebounds and Marcos Watson netted 20 points with seven boards and three assists. Adrian McIntyre also hit double-figures with 14 points along with seven caroms and five dimes while Aaron Dawoodjee scored nine in the triumph for Ventura (10-4).

The VC men's basketball rebounded from Wednesday's setback at the Riverside Tournament with a 77-67 victory over Saddleback on Thursday. Marcus Watson had a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists to lead the Pirates (9-4) and Michael Noulowe netted 17 points in the triumph. Tony Njia scored 12, Adrian McIntyre recorded 11, and Anthony Garza tallied 10 points with eight rebounds for Ventura. The win even out a 77-64 VC setback against the Bobcats in the opening game of the season.

Adrian McIntyre led the way with 23 points on 9-11 shooting, 4-6 from three, and Marcus Watson netted 20 for Ventura (2-1). Anthony Garza scored 16 with a team-high nine rebounds while Kai Johnson and Aaron Dawoodjee scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
