The VC baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Santa Barbara on Saturday at Pershing Park, undone by a seven-run sixth inning. The Pirates stayed within reach through five frames after surrendering only a solo home run in the first, but the Vaqueros broke it open in the middle frames and never gave VC a chance to recover. Grant Rodriguez drew a pair of walks and scored both Pirate runs in the game while Will Kaczynski had a quality start on the mound allowing just one run through five innings.

Ventura walks off Santa Barbara 8-7 after ninth-inning rally

The VC baseball team survived a wild ninth inning and answered with the final run in the bottom half, beating Santa Barbara 8-7 on Tuesday at Pirate Park. After building a six-run lead, the Pirates watched Santa Barbara score five times in the top of the ninth to pull even at 7-7 before Ventura ended it with a walk-off run. Mario Franco recorded four hits, including a double, with a run batted in and a run scored. Meanwhile Johnny Levelis produced a quality start on the mound, working into the sixth inning and giving up one run.

Big Innings Power VC in Doubleheader Sweep Over PIerce

The VC baseball team swept a double header Saturday at Pirate Park against Los Angelees Pierce College, 6-2 and 11-7. Tyler Field led the effort with two doubles, a home run and four runs batted in on the day for the Pirates (7-8, 2-1) and Hector Pina recorded a pair of two-baggers with three RBI. Will Kaczynski pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the win in Game 1 and Alex Villacana gave up one run over 2.2 innings of middle relief for the victory in the nightcap.

Ventura Explodes for 20 Runs in Rout of West LA

The Pirate baseball team piled up runs early and never let up, rolling to a 20-7 win over West Los Angeles Wednesday at Pirate Park behind a pair of five-run frames and a balanced offensive attack that backed a strong start from right-hander Johnny Levelis. Lucas Martinov and Nate Lajole combined for eight RBIs on the day to lead VC.
