Beach Volleyball splits pair of WSC Matches in Bakersfield

Playing in the heat of the Central Valley in Bakersfield, the Pirate beach volleyball team split a pair of Western State Conference contests, falling to Moorpark before defeating Cuesta. Madison Mierau and Beira Boyso won both their matches at the No. 3 slot.

Playing in the heat of the Central Valley in Bakersfield, the Pirate beach volleyball team split a pair of Western State Conference contests, falling to Moorpark before defeating Cuesta. Monaye Ramessar and Beira Boyso won both their matches at the No. 3 slot.

The early travel and early start time in the opener took its toll on the Pirates as they lost to Moorpark, 4-1. VC had defeated the Raiders 3-2 two weeks ago. Ramessar and Boyso produced the only point for the Pirates with a 22-10, 17-21, 15-13 win on Court 3. Aliana Hantgin and Valeria Ibarra also had a close three-set setback at No. 5, falling to the Raiders, 21-12, 17-21, 15-5.

The Pirates rebounded to take a 3-2 victory over Cuesta in the afternoon contest. Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios won in the top match against the Cougars, 21-7, 21-14 while Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar produced a 21-12, 21-14 victory on Court 2. Ramessar and Boyso clinched the VC win with another three-set decision, 21-12, 17-21, 15-11.

VC returns home to the Ventura Harbor Cove Courts on Friday Mar. 27, hosting Santa Monica at 10:00 am and Cuesta at 11:00 am.
