VC Beach Volleyball Sweeps MSJC and Saddleback
The Pirates' beach volleyball team nearly had a perfect day Thursday, sweeping past Mt. San Jacinto and Saddleback in a pair of matches at East Beach in Santa Barbara, winning 20 of 21 sets on the day against the Eagles and Bobcats. Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios won their two matches on Court 1 by a combined 26 and 22 points, respectively.

In the opener, the Pirates made easy work of the Eagles beginning with Daniels and Barrios' 21-7, 21-9 victory in the No. 1 match. Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar won on Court 2, 21-6, 21-10, and Addison Olson and Monaye Ramessar produced a 21-14, 21-19 triumph in the No. 3 slot. Madison Mierau and Beira Boyso captured the No.4 match 21-6, 21-15 while Callie Cahill and Chelsea Torres won on Court 5, 21-17, 21-13.
Ventura continued their strong play with a sweep of Saddleback in the second contest of the day. Daniels and Barrios easily won the top match 21-11, 21-9 while Lishman and Alfar captured the No. 2 contest 22-20, 21-15. Olson and Ramessar won COurt 3 in three sets, 17-21, 21-8, 15-10 and Mierau and Boyso prevailed in the No. 4 slot, 21-10, 21-15. Cahill and Torres completed the sweep with a 2113, 21-4 triumph in the No. 5 match.
The Pirates next travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday Feb. 20 to take on Orange Coast and the host Mounties.
