The VC beach volleyball team returned home for the first time in 2025, defeating Desert 5-0 and Mt. San Jacinto 4-1 at the Ventura Harbor Cove Courts Friday. The Pirates' No. 3 team of Josephine Rausch and Giannamay Tayco were one of four Ventura duos with a pair of wins on the day.
The Pirates beach volleyball team wrapped up their season opening road stint with two wins Friday against Palomar, 4-1, and host Golden West, 5-0, in Huntington Beach. Ventura's Nos. 2, 3 and 4 pairs, Talia Behrens and Saide Lishman, Josephine Rausch and Giannamay Tayco, and Skylar Rutherford and Lexi Brinkman all won two matches on the day.
The Pirates' beach volleyball team traveled to play El Camino and Riverside in Torrance Wednesday as a steady rain started to fall. With heavy and wet sand-covered volleyballs in play, VC swept past Riverside 5-0 without dropping a set. The Pirates and Warriors battled in the second match of the day with Ventura coming out on top 3-2.
The Ventura College beach volleyball team opened their season with two wins at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach against Cerritos and Golden West, winning 3-2 and 4-1, respectively. The Pirates have a young roster, returning only three sophomores and adding two transfers and ten freshmen. Two of the first-year players, Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios, debuted at the No. 1 spot and went undefeated on the day, winning 21-12, 21-16, and again 21-12, 21-16.
