Pirate Athletics Team Store Opens to Celebrate VC Centennial

VC Athletics invites fans to celebrate a century of Ventura College and Pirate sports by sporting official #VC100 athletics gear. The store opening coincides with the beginning of centennial celebrations in Pirate Athletics that begins on Aug. 16 with a Pirate football scrimmage and a VC volleyball Alumnae Game on Saturday Aug. 16. Fans can purchase official #VC100 Nike swag online, including short-sleeve and long-sleeve t-shirts for men and women, sweatshirts and hoodies, polos, shorts and warm-up jackets and pants in all of the Pirates' team colors.

The store is open in time for the beginning of the 2025-26 athletics year, with all seven of the Pirates' fall sports playing during the final two weeks of August. 

VC Football opens the docket with a scrimmage on Saturday Aug. 16 at 6:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura will take on Pasadena in the pre-season tilt on Youth Football Night, inviting all local youth players to the event.  Admission to the scrimmage is free and all young athletes will receive a free VC football poster schedule.  The team will also be available for autographs following the scrimmage. Ventura opens its regular season on Aug. 30 at Palomar in San Marcos before returning home to the home opener on Saturday Sept. 6 in the Pirates' official centennial celebration.

The Pirate Volleyball team will open its 2025 season with an Alumnae Game scrimmage beginning at 5:00 pm in the VC Athletic Event Center, also on Aug. 16.  Ventura opens the regular season Aug. 22 at Imperial Valley with the home-opener on Friday Aug. 29 at 5:00 pm against Orange Coast.

The Pirates' Women's Soccer team will host its annual Alumnae Game on Friday Aug. 22 at 5:30 pm at the VC Sportsplex before opening its regular season at home against College of the Canyons on Monday Aug. 25 or Tuesday Aug. 26.  They will also host the annual New Balance Community College Showcase Thursday through Saturday of Labor Day weekend, with the Pirates playing San Francisco on Aug. 28 at 8:00 pm and Mt. San Jacinto at 4:00 pm on Aug. 30.

The Ventura Women's Water Polo squad will host its season-opener on Saturday Aug. 30 at 10:00 am against Crafton Hills followed by its annual Alumnae Game later that day at 1:00 pm. 

Meanwhile, VC Men's Water Polo will play a pair of scrimmages and a game that day, at Cal Lutheran at 9:00 am, hosting Crafton Hills at 11:45 pm, and against the Pirate Alumni at 2:45 pm.  All men's and women's water polo home games are at the Ventura Aquatic Center at Kimball Park.

Finally, Ventura College Men's and Women's Cross Country will open its 2025 campaign at home on Friday Aug. 29. The teams will host the Ventura Invitational at Arroyo Verde Park with the women's race beginning at 10:00 am and the men's following soon thereafter.
