Women's Polo Lands Four on First-Team All-WSC

The Ventura College women's water polo has had four team members named first-team All-Western State Conference as voted by the conference coaches last month. VC sophomore Lauren Mora and freshmen Fiona Watkins, Megan Findlay and Anna Lowe all earned the first-team nod for the 2021 season, a year in which the Pirates finished a strong second in the WSC race and posted 20 wins for just the fourth time in program history.

VC's Kiran Shah (8) scored three goals in the opener Friday as the Pirates defeated Golden West 18-7 to begin the Battle at the Beach Tournament at Cerritos College. Ventura then defeated Rio Hondo 20-7 in he nightcap.
Ventura Polo Wins Pair at Battle at the Beach

The Ventura College women's water polo team continued to shine with two more victories Friday at the Battle at the Beach at Cerritos College. The Pirates defeated Golden West 17-8 in the first game of the day before beating Rio Hondo 20-8 in the nightcap. Anna Lowe scored eight goals in the two games while Megan Findlay netted seven. Lauren Mora found the inside of the cage six times on the day Friday for Ventura (17-4, 4-1), the No. 9-ranked team in the state.

VC Falls Short with Great Effort at Cal Lu

The VC women's water polo team had a great effort Saturday in Thousand Oaks, pushing 2021 SCIAC champion Cal Lutheran before falling 15-9 to the Regals. Fiona Watkins scored four goals with two assists and two steals against the NCAA Division III team and Lauren Mora had three scores to lead the Pirates (14-4, 3-1). Katie Falls recorded eight saves in the cage with the four-year school.

Women's Polo Runs Away From Brahmas

In a game in which all 13 field players scored for the Pirates' women's water polo team,. VC ran away from visiting LA Pierce 19-5 Friday afternoon at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Megan Findlay had four goals in leading the rout over the Brahmas, and Emmie Johnston, Lauren Pierce and Bryanna Soto each scored twice. Katie Falls had nine saves in goal for Ventura (14-3, 3-1).

The VC women's water polo team scored four goals in the first two-plus minutes of the opening period en route to an 18-4 runaway victory over host Santa Monica on Wednesday in Western State Conference play. Natalia Rodriguez and Lauren Pierce each netted three goals to pace VC (13-3, 2-1) and Fiona Watkins scored twice with four assists and four steals. Sierra Cameron had three assists and a pair of thefts in the Pirate win.

The VC women's water polo team won two of three games during day one of the Ventura Tournament Friday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. After dropping the opener to Fullerton 14-9, VC defeated Golden West 11-5 and ran away from Pasadena 16-5. Lauren Mora scored nine goals with four assists and four steals, and she added five saves in the cage in relief in game three, to lead Ventura (11-3, 1-1). Megan Findlay found the inside of the cage eight times with five helpers and four steals on the day. Katie Falls recorded 26 saves in goal.

Ventura sophomore Lauren Mora had 10 goals and seven steals Saturday as the Pirates defeated Grossmont and San Diego Mesa to finish the San Diego Classic with a perfect 4-0 record.
Pirates Complete 4-0 Weekend at San Diego Classic

With wins over Grossmont and San Diego Mesa, the VC women's water polo team completed an undefeated weekend at the San Diego Classic on Saturday at Mesa College. Lauren Mora led the way with 10 goals and seven steals in the two games while Fiona Watkins had seven scores and seven steals. Katie Falls turned back 24 shots in goal, bringing her weekend total to 54 saves in four games.

The Ventura College women's water polo team prevailed in a pair of games Friday at the San Diego Classic at Miramar College on Friday. VC held off Palomar in the first game of the day, posting a 13-10 win before defeating host Miramar 18-8 in the nightcap. Lauren Mora led the offense with 10 goals while Katie Falls recorded 30 saves on the day with seven steals.

It has been said that sometimes a team doe not get beat, they just run out of time. That was the case for VC women's water polo Wednesday as their comeback bid ran out of time against visiting Santa Barbara. The Pirates overcame a three goal deficit in the first half, and face another one in the second, scoring twice in the final minute of play to fall 10-9 to the Vaqueros. Fiona Watkins had four goals and eight steals to lead VC (5-2, 1-1).

Pirates Open WSC Play With Victory Over LAVC

The game seemed to be over almost as soon as it started. The Pirates' women's water polo team was tied 1-1 with visiting Los Angeles Valley two minutes into play before reeling off 10 straight goals over the next 10 minutes of game time to settle the outcome of their Western State Conference opener Wednesday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Katie Falls led the defensive effort with 13 saves in the cage while Megan Findlay and Anna Lowe scored six and five goals, respectively, to lead the offense.

The Ventura College women's water polo team traveled to San Luis Obispo Friday, bringing home a pair of wins in the Cuesta College Central Coast Invitational. VC (4-1) scored three fourth-quarter goals to defeat Merced 10-7 before blasting Diablo Valley 17-5. Megan Findlay scored seven goals to lead the charge while Anna Lowe had six scores, four assists and three steals in the two games. Katie Falls had 23 saves in the cage on the day for the Pirates.

The VC women's water polo team scored the final four goals in regulation play against visiting Cerritos forcing overtime before falling 16-15 in the second extra period at the Ventura Aquatic Center Thursday afternoon. Lauren Mora scored five goals overall, three in the final 3:12 of the fourth quarter for send the game to bonus time. Fiona Watkins found the inside of the cage three times with four assists and six steals.

Women's Polo Opens 2021 Season With Two Victories

Playing for the first time in 665 days, the Pirates' women's water polo team returned to the pool with a pair of victories at the Saddleback Mini Tournament in Mission Viejo Friday. VC defeated the host bobcats in a runaway 17-7 before prevailing in a tough, physical contest against Palomar, 15-6. Megan Findlay netted nine goals with three assists on the day while Lauren Mora scored seven times with a pair of assists and four steals. Katie Falls recorded 18 saves in the cage in the two games.
