Herrera Goes Low as Pirates Finish Second

VC sophomore Joey Herrera posted his third sub-par round in his last four outings and claimed medalist honors for the fourth time this year at the WSC-Glendale event at Oakmont Country Club Monday.

VC sophomore Joey Herrera continued his strong play Monday, posting his third sub-par round in his past four outings. His 2-under par 69 won him medalist honors for the fourth time this year, and the Pirates came in second as a team at the Western State Conference event hosted by Glendale College at Oakmont Country Club. Herrera went low by five strokes over second place and Denis Kakimoto was tied for fifth with a 77.

Canyons won the event with a team score of 380 followed by Ventura at 394.

Other players and their scores for the Pirates included: Connor Philpott (78), Jonathon Ortiz (85), Aaron Friedland (85) and Adam Franc (89).

Ventura will next travel to the WSC event hosted by Victor Valley College at Spring Valley Lake Country Club in Victorville.
