VC Golf Moves into First Place With Another Win

The Ventura College golf team moved into first place overall in conference play with a team win at the Western State Conference neutral site event at El Camino Country Club In Oceanside, site of this year's SoCal Regional Championships. The Pirates posted a team score of 383, finishing ahead of second-place Santa Barbara (391), Citrus (394), and Canyons (400). Brandon Resnick earned medalist honors for the second time in as many weeks with a 1-over par 73.

Joey Herrera came in with a 2-over 74 for Ventura, followed by Kyle Dollison (76), Denis Kakimoto (80), Connor Philpott (80) and Ethan Winkler (84).

The meet also served as a SoCal Preview, with 19 teams from the region on the course.  The Pirates came in fourth when expanding the competition, behind Saddleback (377), Orange Coast (378) and Riverside (380). Resnick came in third individually in the expanded meet, with Herrera tying for fourth.

Ventura next hits the links on Monday March 27 at Alisal Ranch Golf Club in Solvang for the WSC-Santa Barbara event rescheduled from Feb. 20.
