Traveling to the California central coast for an originally scheduled two day invitational the Ventura College golf team brought home a second place finish in a rain shortened one day event. As a team the Pirates finished with a total score of 384 just three shots behind first place Santa Barbara City at 381. Kyle Dollison finished with a team low of 71 for his round.
Ventura has had their fair share of top three finishes and after a strong opening day was hoping to use the second day of the invitational to clinch a winning finish. With Dollison and Emil Ozeke pacing the Pirates in the low 70's for their opening round scores, Dollison at 71 and Ozeke at 73, VC was in prime position. Dollison's score was just two strokes behind the invitational winner from SBCC at 69 and good for a second place finish. Ozeke finished in third overall with his round.
Brandon Resnick was the third Pirate golfer to finish in the 70's with a round of 76. Three other VC golfers finished in the 80's with no Ventura score higher than 83 on the day.
The rain rolled in late sunday night and throughout the morning making the course conditions unfavorable to continue play. This decision shortened the invitational by one day and did not allow for Ventura to make up ground on the second day of play.
VC will be back on the course on Monday Mar. 14 for a 1:00 pm tee off at Desert Island Country Club for the College of the Desert Invitational. Then on Monday Mar. 21 they will return to Western State Conference play at Antelope Valley Country Club for a 10:00 am tee off.
