Despite no 2020 season for the Ventura College football team, the Pirates signed two student athletes as early transfers on the NCAA signing day on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Will Bonkavich and defensive back Mychal Victor signed national letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the Division I FBS level at Marshall and Nevada Las Vegas, respectively. The pair of signees brings head coach Steve Mooshagian's total of transfers from Ventura College to 261 in his decade at the helm of the Pirates' ship.
Bonkavich, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive tackle from Las Vegas earned All-Region and All-Conference honors, anchoring the Pirates' line that helped VC post the fourth-most points in program history, a 39.4 points per game average.
Victor, meanwhile, is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back from Upland, CA. He recorded seven tackles and four pass break-ups in six games of action for VC in 2019.
Both players were key in the Pirates posting an 8-3 overall record, a 4-1 mark to claim a share of the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference championship, the program's sixth conference title in the past eight years.
